This year as part of an in-class project, students in Mr. Jeremiah Simmons’ Capstone classes are designing an application for use within the Pattonville School District.
Last year, the administration came to Simmons asking him to work on designing the application in his computer science courses.
“The idea started last year when some of the district administrators came to Mr. Simmons and asked him to put together a team of students who are able to build an application for the Pattonville School District,” senior Kevin Bowers said.
This application is expected to go to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store by the end of May 2017. The app is made to be used by students, teachers, and parents connecting them to district news, staff emails, and upcoming events throughout all schools in the Pattonville School District.
“We are hoping to have the app completely ready to launch by May of next year,” Bowers said. “The app will allow teachers and students to communicate via email, schools will be able to put news and upcoming sporting events in the app, and overall it will give parents the access to all the information they need without going to the district website. We are working very hard on this app during class time and are excited for it to be launched.”
