5 Questions with…Mrs. Harris

Mrs. Harris is a Library Assistant at Pattonville High School who has worked in the field for 19 years and has received a Masters in Library Science. She gave up a few minutes of her time to answer a few questions.

 

1. Why did you become a Library Assistant?

“Because I wanted to be in the education field and I enjoy the wide variety of parts that the job has, like working with students and various medias such as books, movies and computers.”

 

2. What do you do?

“My primary job is to provide appropriate materials to the Staff and Students.”

3. What is the difference between Library Assistant and a Librarian?

“A Librarian does more teaching, while I do more work at the circulation desk.”

4. What are the requirements for becoming a Library Assistant?

“You need at least 60 hours of college credit, it doesn’t matter what you have it in. However, I have a Masters in Library Science.”

5. What is the best part of the job?

“The best part of the job is varies from helping kids, to processing new books, to watching kids enjoy reading.”
