Alternatives are available if you’re not going to the homecoming dance

While homecoming is a big thing here at Pattonville, there are always people who do not go for one reason or another.

“I don’t have a date…” or “I don’t want to…” are some of the more common responses to the much-asked question of “Why aren’t you going to homecoming?” But there is plenty of fun to be had on the night of October 12 besides going to the Homecoming dance.

For those sports fans that are not going to the dance, the Cardinals play Game 2 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

“I will be cheering on the Cardinals,” said freshman Joshua Holtgrieve.

With a series win, the Cardinals will be back in the World Series, hoping to claim a 12th title.

The Blues are also playing a game on Saturday against the New York Rangers. The Blues, who have started the year 3-0-0, are looking to claim a larger lead in the Central Division, and hope to finally win a Stanley Cup in June.

So root for your favorite St. Louis sports team.

Six Flags is also hosting its annual “Fright Fest” on Saturday. Tickets start at $39.99.  Walk through the park’s “premium Haunted attractions” including Blind Fury, Slaughter House, Insanity Alley and Total Darkness if you’re looking for some early Halloween fun.

There is also the new Heroes of Olympus book, The House of Hades, out and ready to be read. Follow the seven demigods as they continue their quest through the ancient lands to defeat the rising giants. The book is the fourth of the series and is followed by The Blood of Olympus to be released in October 2014.

So if you’re not going to homecoming, do not despair. There is plenty of fun that can be had on Saturday, beyond going to the dance.
