The Meyer twins will sign their official college letters of intent on Thursday

The Meyer twins will sign their official college letters of intent on Thursday.

Both Amanda and Kayla Meyer have announced their commitment to the University of Illinois Springfield (NCAA D-II). They both will be signing their letters of intent on Thursday, March 9.

“We decided to go to UI- Springfield because we get to play soccer there together,” Kayla Meyer said. “They also have a really good program for each of our majors. I plan on majoring in exercise science and taking that into physical therapy, and I think Amanda wants to either major in chemistry or business.”

Both girls have been playing soccer together since they were little and they are very excited to be able to continue that journey together, especially on a college team.

“I am excited and I think it will be good for the both of us,” Amanda Meyer said. “We’ve been playing together our whole lives and we are rooming together. It’s comforting having someone you’ve been playing with your whole life on the field playing next to you.”

New varsity soccer coach Jason Sellers is very proud of the girls and can’t wait to see their skills this upcoming soccer season.

“With everything else, we’re excited to get the season going,” Sellers said. “I’m not exactly sure what position the twins are going to play yet, but just from seeing them in practice, I can tell that they can play in any position I need them to. Obviously they get along really well being twins and they communicate differently from everybody else. Honestly, we’re all just really ready for games to start.”

Additional signings happening on Thursday include Katie Johnson (soccer, Harris Stowe State University) and Aloni Jordan (volleyball, Western Nebraska CC).
