Lunch! The preferred time of the school day for many students. But have you ever taken the time to stop and think about who is back there working over those industrial-size stoves making your favorite lunchtime foods? Donna Darby has worked in the Pattonville High School cafeteria for 23 years. She says she loves her job because “the kids make me feel young again.”
Darby said the fire that happened on Wednesday August 15 was because “we got new fire detectors this year and they’re really sensitive. They were set off by steam from the oven.” She added,”Don’t worry, we know what we’re doing.”
Darby wants all of the students at Pattonville to learn how to show others respect.
“The lunch ladies are awesome. Even if they aren’t awesome, they’re still people,” Darby said. “Sometimes the kids don’t realize that.”
