The Foreign Exchange Student

Jan Kallamann is not only a new student to Pattonville but he is also new to the country.  He is from Switzerland and he is a foreign exchange student.

This is his first year in the United States and he will be a student at Pattonville for the remainder of the school year.

Switzerland is a lot different than it is in the United States.  There are different rules and people do different things.

“[Switzerland] is more lenient such as the drinking age is 16 and some things that are illegal here are legal in Switzerland,” Kallamann said.

The students in Switzerland also do different things.

“I go to school by train and leave school by train,” Kallamann explained.

In his free time, Kallamann said, “I like to play sports and meet new people.”

The reason why Kallamann was so comfortable coming to another country is because he is so comfortable meeting new people.

The weather is a little bit different in Switzerland.

“The weather is kind of similar to Missouri but it’s a little bit colder,” Kallamann said.

The transition from Switzerland to the United States for Kallamann was pretty easy and he is excited to stay here for the rest of the year.
