Turning in the green for bright orange

Listening to the crunch of leaves as you walk across the leafy floor of the woods. It’s the middle of November and you are bundled up so much that you can barely move. The sun hasn’t rose yet but you are awaiting the morning hunt. Hunting is a huge hobby at Pattonville High School.

There are a ton of people that enjoy the excitement and adrenaline rush that one gets when they hunt.

“The favorite method of hunting at the high school would be bow hunting,” said Nicky Spencer, a senior at PHS.

Another senior, Shaun Treat, also likes bow hunting. He said his favorite thing to hunt is whitetail deer.”

Treat’s dad got him into hunting at a young age and he said he will never stop participating in it.

Whitetails seem to be the favorite thing to hunt by students and staff at Pattonville.

Shaun Patrick, a history teacher at PHS, enjoys hunting ducks and Canadian geese the most.

“Ducks are my favorite though because they are a little more fun to hunt, there is a bigger bag limit, and they taste a lot better than geese,” Patrick said.

He started to hunt in high school with his buddies and is now on Avery Outdoors pro staff as well as Hevi-shot’s pro staff, which are basically promotion teams, to promote their products.

Patrick added that his favorite type of duck to hunt would be a mallard drake.
