PAL’s host annual Wheelchair Basketball Game on Nov. 9

With a record of 1-21, the teachers will again battle the St. Louis Jr. Rolling Rams in the annual wheelchair basketball game. This year’s contest will be played on Nov. 9.

For the past 22 years, Peers As Leaders (PALs), an in-school group sponsored by Ms. Janet Kuhn, has hosted the wheelchair basketball game.

The St. Louis Jr. Rolling Rams come in to play against a team consisting of Pattonville staff members in an effort to raise money for the traveling and tournament costs of the Jr. Rolling Rams.

The event usually brings in $3,000 to $4,000 and all proceeds go to the Jr. Rolling Rams.

Money at the event is raised through the ticket sales, a silent auction, a halftime raffle, a free throw contest, and even concession sales.

Not only are the PALs involved is this event, but so is the Pattonville faculty.

“The PALs organize it, but teachers volunteer,” Kuhn said. “Teachers donate money for the silent auction baskets so we definitely could not do this without the staff.”

During the game, there will be a performances by the drill team, cheerleaders, Pep Band, and the choir. There will also be an appearance by Fredbird.

The game will take place Thursday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. in the main gym.
