Auditions for Beauty and the Beast start Nov. 6

Students involved in the theatre program perform 12 Angry Jurors in October for its fall play. The winter musical will be Beauty and the Beast.

Even with the Pirate Players finishing the fall play, Twelve Angry Jurors, just two weeks ago, auditions for the winter musical Beauty and the Beast are right around the corner.

Students solely wanting to be a part of Beauty and the Beast have had plenty of time to prepare. However, thespians who do both the play and musical have a very brief break between show week and auditions.

Senior Louis Johnson was the assistant stage manager for the play, and plans on having the same title for the musical.

“It can be stressful because our turnaround time is so quick. The applications were put out before the last show,” Johnson, who is the historian of the Pirate Thespian troupe, said. “The people who are a part of it have to worry about opening night, the rest of the shows, and starting up the musical again.”

Although being in the company is a huge time commitment, so many people are willing to be a part of the musical because putting on the big show for the school is immensely rewarding.

Senior Tamia Tyler who is the vice president of the Pirate Thespian troupe agrees.

“It’s not ideal, but you can make it work if you really want,” she said. “If you’re passionate about it, it’s not a problem.”

Auditions begin next Monday, Nov. 6.
