Lily Norman is the Photography Editor for PattonvilleTODAY. She is a junior at Pattonville High School. This is her second year in Pirate Press and ECHO Yearbook. She also helps out with layout and design for the Pirate Press Print Edition. She is involved in Varsity Drill Team, and has a passion for photography.

Idaho College Murders Creates Panic with Students and Teenagers

Karl Lee Ramsey served in the Marine Corps for four years for 1968-1972. Christmas Eve of 1970, he was staying overseas and sang Christmas carols in the airport. After returning back home, Ramsey was a substitute teacher in the Ritenour District. Ramsey tells students the impact that singing had on people in the airport. "Music will make all the difference," he said. The students went on to ask if they could sing him the National Anthem.

“It has given me more options to think about, it showed me that university is not the only path to be successful” Jeremy Kamande said. Tech School is not just for teaching students who already know their future, but teaches life skills for students that maybe aren’t as sure.

For Travis Calvert he has always wanted to work on cars and North Tech has given him the opportunity he needed, “it has given me a platform and a way todo that.” At North Tech students are able to choose an area of interest and focus, from cosmetology to construction.

North Tech gives many students the opportunity to develop their skills for their future job or career. Travis Calvert, PHS senior who attends North Tech, said “it’s given me all the skills and certifications I need to go out and get a job already.” After he graduates, Calvert will continue to get industry level certifications.

Freshman, Hunter Hellman, is joining the sport for his first time this season.

Another member of our Pattonville Wrestling team, Danny Davis is joining the sport for his first time this year.

Varsity wrestler Allie Basta explained why the sport helps her with not just her physical health. “While it helps me push my physical boundaries, but my mental and emotional as well. There are many hardships to wrestling and they have only made me stronger as a person.”

Varsity Wrestler Sam Heine has been competing in this sport for the past 3 years. While in most sports are team-oriented, wrestling is different. While you’re still on a team, you compete by yourself. “It feels good to win an individual sport,” stated Heine. Although Sam lost her last match, she continues to stay motivated. “Last year I went to state, my main goal is to go again this year. This goal pushes me harder everyday.”

Although Davis is new to the world of wrestling, he expresses that the sport has had an impact on his life already. “Wrestling has given me so much confidence. Practicing alongside my teammates has helped me grow stronger and believe in myself more than ever.”

Basta pointed out that through wrestling she's gained countless friendships. “I’ve found an incredible support system. From the encouraging teammates that embrace you when you come off the mat, to the fans chanting you on and patting your back as you walk by.” Basta's love for the sport continues to grow more and more everyday. “I have finally found a sport that I'm dedicated to and will always have room for progression.”

Although Heine lost her last match she continues to stay motivated. “Last year, I went to state, my main goal is to go again this year. This goal pushes me harder everyday.”
