As the 2013-2014 school year comes to a close, the drill team and cheerleading teams are looking for some new members for next year’s squads.
As seniors graduate, freshmen, sophomores and juniors look to fill their positions. Last week, drill team tryouts were held over three days.
Sophomore Sam Yancey said, “Going into my freshman year tryouts were terrifying because nobody had ever seen me dance and I didn’t even know if I had a chance on making the team. Going into my sophomore year was even more intense because I was trying out for varsity.”
Girls were judged on skills and a short dance routine by head drill team coach Katie Funderburk.
“You get super sore from doing your skills to your fullest potential every day,” Yancey said.
