It was Neon Night for the fans at Pattonville Stadium and the football team played the same way.
Just 90 seconds into the game, the Pirates scored their first touchdown and it was lights out for the Wildcats after that.
The team played like it deserves to be ranked. The Pirates, No. 10 in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch Large School Area Top 10 and No. 6 in the Missouri Statewide Class 5 poll, earned its chance to move up in those rankings next week when they take on Ritenour at home on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.
Top performers in the game against Hazelwood West included:
- Quarterback Kaleb Eleby was 10-for-21 throwing for 206 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception
- Running back Chris Poindexter had 15 carries for 169 yards and crossed into the end zone 3 times
- Wide receiver Calvin Smith collected 4 receptions for 118 yards and scored 1 touchdown
