Girls varsity volleyball team had its senior night on Oct. 13, not only losing six seniors to graduation, but also lost the match 25-21 and 25-14.
Sophomore Megan Reese who has been on the varsity team since her freshman year was very emotional during the senior ceremony.
“Whenever they announced Mackenzie Deutsch’s name I lost it,” Reese said. “Same thing with Amanda Faust. They really have become my family these past two years and next year really won’t be the same. I’ll remember them forever.”
Although they may have lost, the girls got the chance to play their hardest on the Pattonville court for the last time.
“I’m upset that it was my last night playing but I’m very glad that I got the opportunity to play for Pattonville,” Faust said.
The season is not over for the team.
“We play Districts starting today,” senior Sarah Ponder said. “We play Parkway Central at Parkway West at 7:30 p.m.”
Ponder, who has been playing volleyball since 3rd grade, will be playing her last games at a highly competitive level.
“I will probably continue playing intramurals or in a rec league but this is my last chance to play for the school,” Ponder said. “I definitely feel very emotional but I want to play my hardest.”
