After a long offseason, high school football is back in full swing.

Pattonville (1-0) seeks to open the year with a second straight victory when the team travels to Lindbergh (0-1) on Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. The student section theme is “Black Out.”

After just one week of play, the Pirates are ranked as a team “on the bubble” in the St. Louis area among large schools. In a recent Class 5 high school football poll, Pattonville is ranked No. 10 in the state.

The Pirates are coming off a huge opening night win on the road over the Seckman Jaguars, 55-7.

Sophomore quarterback Kaleb Eleby threw for six touchdown passes with three of those going to senior wide receiver Anthony Green.

Now the Pirates have set their sights on the next opponent: Lindbergh.

This is another non-conference matchup and Lindbergh is coming off a blowout loss to state superpower and conference rival, Kirkwood, 35-7. The Pioneers ran for four touchdowns, including one by former Pattonville student Jerod Alton.

Although the Pirates dominated Seckman and Lindbergh failed to win against Kirkwood, the Pirates cannot take the Flyers lightly. Lindbergh will look to seek revenge for the 37-14 loss last season to the Pirates and must be prepared to see the Flyers at the top of their game.
